Jaroslav Francisty (Serbia - Novi Sad, 1953), together with the renowned Vojvodina’s pedagogue Živojin Ćulum, PhD (1911-2001), has founded the Astronomical society “Novi Sad”  (Astronomsko društvo «Novi Sad» - ADNOS, www.adnos.org), initiated commissioning of the Observatory in Novi Sad and has been the lead consultant on the project and the build-up of the Observatory in 1986 and Planetarium in 1996 at Petrovaradin’s fortress. From the year 1974 to 2006, holds position as a Secretary General of ADNOS and is a Chief Manager of astronomical observations projects.
Beside his work on popularization of the Astronomy (organizing popular-science lectures, movie presentations and public telescopic observations), from the mid 70’s onwards he is involved in astrophotography (photographing interesting astronomical phenomena and celestial objects).
In personal archive, he has collected several thousands original photos of astronomical phenomena, celestial bodies, famous observatories and some of the best known astronomical instruments existing today (visited 26 reputable observatories in Europe).
In his work, he collaborated with many of the most acclaimed Yugoslav astronomers (Pero Đurković, PhD,  Milorad Protić, PhD, Prof. Radovan Danić, PhD, M. Muminović, G. Kren, Korado Korlević, Milan Dimitrijević, PhD, etc).
From the mid 80’s he has been involved in detailed studies of the History of Astronomy in Vojvodina province, where he became the first author in Serbia which particularly dealt with astronomical observations and measurements undertaken by the Count Luigi (Aloysius) Ferdinand Marsigli in 1696.
Several of his works have been published and widely accepted in the scientific community, including a research monograph concerning L.F. Marsigli’s astronomical observations.
He also wrote books “Calendar and time-measuring”(NIŠRO “Dnevnik”, Novi Sad, 1982) and “Halley’s Comet” (co-author with Prof. Živojin Ćulum, IP “Matica Srpska”, Novi Sad, 1986).
He has published, in astronomical and related magazines, over 30 works. In addition to these he has several hundred articles to his credit that have become nothing less than popular science.
